Dr. Richards is a Licensed Graduate Social worker and offers Direct Practice counseling through TLC Collaborative Counseling in Fairmont, WV. In addition, he serves as a parish minister for the three churches of Cornerstone Ministries, The United Methodist Church, with over twenty-five years of experience in parish ministry. He is available for group counseling, consulting, organizational conflict resolution, leadership incubators and development, spiritual direction, and educational presentations for organizations, groups, and conferences. He specializes in therapy in the context of the Mind-Body connection and in situating each client within his or her specific life context, as well as clergy mental health issues and wellness advocacy for clergy and other spiritual leaders.
Dr. Richards holds degrees from Fairmont State University (B.A., Education); West Virginia University (M.A., Education; Master of Social Work), Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.; Doctor of Ministry), and Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling (Colorado Theological Seminary, 2018). In addition, he is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (WV), a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counseling--Advanced (NCCA), a certified Life Coach, and a state Licenced teacher (Masters +45, WV). He focuses on counseling through the integration of the person's sense of body, mind, and spirit, within one's total life context.
He is a professional member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Association of Christian Social Workers, the American Counseling Association, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the National Christian Counselors Association, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Association for Transpersonal Psychology, the Association for Humanistic Psychology, and the American Holistic Health Association. He is currently pursuing certification in Emotional Freedom Technique, Clinical Hypnosis, and Spiritual Counseling.
